Project Schedule

Welcome to the US 41 Venice Bypass project website. The Florida Department of Transportation, District One, in coordination with the City of Venice and Sarasota County, is excited about the transformation of this corridor.

The project will include the reevaluation of the original Project Development and Environmental Study from September 1994 and design improvements to US 41 (Venice Bypass) from Center Road to south of US 41 Business North.

The reevaluation is necessary due to the increase in right-of-way costs and the need to develop a typical section and preferred alignment that will reduce right-of-way costs.

This 2.5 mile roadway is projected to widen from four to six lanes of traffic. The project is needed to provide more capacity to the roadway.

The reevaluation and design process is scheduled to be complete in 2008 and the construction could begin in 2010. The construction phase and right-of-way acquisition phase is not funded at this time.

Through this website, you will be able to access project details and updates; public meeting dates, agendas and transcripts; press releases and media involvement; and contact information for project and public involvement representatives.
